The Story Behind Moonlight Bakery

Hi, I'm Elizabeth, the baker behind Moonlight Bakery.

My love for baking started years ago when my three kids were little. I loved making and decorating their birthday cakes and cupcakes, along with treats for school events, holidays and all the little celebrations in between.

As the years passed, my kids grew up and I became a grandma. I found myself back in the kitchen again, this time baking for my grandkids, and it reminded me just how much I had always loved it.

With a little encouragement from my daughter, I signed up for a half-day cake decorating class thinking it would simply be something fun to do. Instead, I fell in love with decorating all over again.

I started playing with buttercream, learning new techniques and creating more and more. What began as a hobby slowly turned into orders, referrals and repeat customers. Before I knew it, something I had started just for fun had grown into Moonlight Bakery.

Today, from my cottage bakery in Surprise, Arizona, I get to create custom cakes and desserts for celebrations throughout the West Valley. One of my favorite parts of what I do is hearing a customer's ideas, working through the details with them, and then bringing their vision to life in a way that's made especially for their celebration.

It's pretty special to think that something that began with making cakes for my own kids—and later my grandkids—has come full circle. Now I get to create them for your families and be a small part of the moments you're celebrating, too.
